When my daughter got married we decided to add Doves to her ceremony and it was the best decision we made. After the ceremony we invited the guests out to the front lawn of the Church where three cages were filled with beautiful white doves. The guests were allowed to hold the birds if they wished. The Bride and Groom held the doves in their hands as their wedding officiant, read a reading about the symbol of doves. We then played the beautiful song “Over the Rainbow” by Israel Kamakawiwoʻole’s. All of our guests were very moved by the event and we still talk about it being our favorite part of the ceremony to this day.
