You’re Engaged! An engagement photo shoot is a fun way to celebrate and spread the word to your family and friends. Use the photos on your save the date cards which should be sent out 9 months to a year prior to your wedding. If your wedding is during a holiday or summer, I suggest sending them out one year in advance so your guests can plan their vacation time around your date. Here are some great backdrops for your engagement photo session in Philadelphia and New Jersey, but be sure to have your photographer check to see if permits or permission are needed before you go. We do suggest going midweek, if possible, to avoid crowds getting in the way of your pictures.

The Red Mill: A Hunterdon County, NJ historic landmark, this charming red mill adjacent to a park and waterfall is a breathtaking place to turn on the romance.
I wanted to add one more fantastic place in Philadelphia, The Fairmount Park Waterworks and Boathouse row. The architecture of The Waterworks along the Schuylkill River falls is quite dramatic but the permit price starts at $50/hour. It may be worth the extra money if your budget allows.
